Make contact with your cat the right way so she falls completely in love with you!

By adjusting your own behaviour a little, you become predictable and safe for your cat - and she loves that!

We often show our love in a way that cats don't always enjoy. Our body language is simply different from theirs.

That's why people who want nothing to do with cats are always so popular with them, and why cats walk away from visitors who want to cuddle them.

TIP 1 - Let her smell your hand first

Always hold out your hand first to let the cat smell it. It's important for her to first smell what your hand smells like, so she can then decide whether she wants contact or not. By doing this, you become predictable.

If she gives you a head-bunt, you may pet her on her chin/ears. If she doesn't give you a head-bunt, or looks the other way, simply leave her alone.

By building up this way of making contact, you'll see that your cat gains trust faster and faster and quickly makes more contact with you.

TIP 2 - Only make contact with the cat when she makes contact

It seems counterintuitive, but cats are often ignored when they ask for attention, and made to endure our cuddles when they'd rather be left alone.

A simple solution is to only make contact with your cats when they choose to themselves. Then you're completely sure that they want it. This means leaving your cat alone more than you're used to, but you'll soon see that before long she comes asking for more attention and makes contact herself. She likes control and predictability, and this is no different.

TIP 3 - Don't pick up your cat

In the wild, when a cat is lifted off the ground on all four paws, it means she's been caught by a larger predator and is about to die.

That's why it's not a good idea to pick up your cat, regardless of whether you think she's okay with it or not.

TIP 4 - Sit or lie down on the floor

Instead of picking up your cat, sit down on the floor yourself. Turn slightly away from your cats and hold some treats in your hand. That way you become super attractive to your cats!

TIP 5 - Give cat kisses

Let your eyes gently close as you look at your cat.

This is cat language for saying a friendly hello, that everything is okay, and that you don't want to be a threat to your cat. Your cat will let her eyes close in response. Do the same when she blinks at you, and you'll be speaking the same language of love!
